The teenager is in line to make his debut against Georgia on Sept. 8

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has published his list of called-up players for the upcoming international break, with Lamine Yamal as the main protagonist, a player of only 16 years of age who has shone at the beginning of the season with Barcelona. The young forward looks set to be a star of the future.

Spain will play gainst Georgia on Friday 8 September in a qualifying game for Euro 2024. Luis de la Fuente's side will play away in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.

The second match of the break will be against Cyprus, this time at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes in Granada on Tuesday 12 September. Spain are favourites in both matches and should not have too many problems, but come into the games after losing to Scotland in their previous qualifier.

Including Yamal, there will be three Barça representatives in the Spanish national team, with Alejandro Balde and Gavi also called up.

Spain squad

Goalkeepers: Unai Simon, Kepa, David Raya

Defenders: Carvajal, Azpilicueta, Le Normand, David Garcia, Pau Torres, Laporte, Balde, Gayà

Midfielders: Rodri, Gavi, Mikel Merino, Zubimendi, Baena, Fabian Ruiz

Forwards: Morata, Joselu, Asensio, Dani Olmo, Nico Williams, Abel Ruiz, Lamine Yamal

The big additions to the list are Zubimendi, Abel Ruiz, Alex Baena and, above all, Yamal, the 'jewel' of the Masia, who has made a name for himself in this first part of the campaign.

Spain are the reigning champions of the UEFA Nations League, a tournament they won for the first time in their history on 18 June after beating Croatia on penalties. Jordi Alba, who lifted the trophy as captain, will no longer represent Spain in international matches after announcing his retirement.

Pedri, who picked up an injury a few weeks ago and will be sidelined until the end of October, is also out of the squad, a significant loss for De la Fuente's side.

Another name of note is that of Ferran Torres, who has once again been left out of the squad despite a great start to the season. The Azulgrana forward has scored two goals in the first three games of LaLiga.
