After Luis Rubiales' explosive appearance on Friday, in which he refused to resign as president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) over what happened during the celebrations for the women's World Cup win, several regional presidents are resigning in response to his continued tenure.

The first to resign was Rafael del Amo, president of the National Women's Football Committee. He was followed later by the president of the Basque Football Federation, Javier Landeta, who announced on Friday that he will resign as a director "after what happened in the Assembly of the Royal Spanish Football Federation", in which Luis Rubiales indicated that he would not resign from his post.

"Based on the statement made yesterday, Javier Landeta will present his resignation at the next meeting of the RFEF Board of Directors," explains the statement published by the Basque body. For its part, the Guipuzcoa Football Federation also indicated that its president, Manu Díez, is resigning from his position as a member of the Spanish Federation's Assembly.

The Alavesa Football Federation joined the reactions and announced that its president, Kepa Arrieta, "on the basis of the communiqué issued on Thursday, will present his resignation at the next meeting of the REF Board of Directors, with the unanimous support of the board of directors of the Alavesa Federation".

The President of the Cantabrian Federation, José Ángel Peláez, and the President of the Canarian Federation, José Juan Arencibia, are also resigning. The stream of resignations is expected to continue in the coming hours.

The president of the Football Federation of the Valencian Community, Salvador Gomar, has resigned from his position as one of the vice-presidents of the RFEF after attending the Extraordinary Assembly of the Spanish Federation this Friday morning, in which its president Luis Rubiales has decided not to resign from his position.

Gomar has not wanted to make statements until next Tuesday at the assembly of the Valencian Territorial what happened in the RFEF Board and then expose a public position with everything that happened in the controversial performance of Rubiales in the final of the Women's World Cup.

The president of the Cantabrian Football Federation, José Ángel Peláez, has resigned from the board of directors of the Royal Spanish Football Federation following the events at the assembly of this body held on Friday morning, while Racing Santander have called for measures against Luis Rubiales, "for the good of football".
