Athletic Club 0-2 Real Madrid: Los Blancos start strongly

Jude Bellingham struck on his Real Madrid debut as Carlo Ancelotti's team won 2-0 over Athletic Bilbao at San Mames.

Los Blancos were good value for their win and Rodrygo Goes put them on their path to victory.

The Brazilian tucked away at the near post after Dani Carvajal fed him in the box after 28 minutes.

Not long afterwards, Bellingham finished from a corner, shooting into the ground, which fooled Athletic stopper Unai Simon.

"I've always been taught if you try and hit the target you can score," said Bellingham.

"I didn't make the best contact with it, I was a little bit lucky."

Vinicius Junior also went close but Madrid did not add to their lead -- nor were they troubled at the other end as Valverde's Athletic struggled badly.

Madrid played with Lunin in nets after Courtois' knee injury but he wasn't given anything to do by the Basques.
