The Bayern Munich defender is out of contract in the summer and available for free

David Alaba's situation at Bayern Munich is more and more complicated all the time. Negotiations over a new deal have stalled and he's out of contract next summer, so can talk to other clubs from January onwards.

Alaba is ready to look for a new challenge away from the German club. Several teams, like Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Real Madrid, are keen on signing the Austrian defender but his salary demands are inconvenient.

The player's agent, Pini Zahavi, wants €20 million annually for his client, an amount which has forced some clubs to take a step back.

That could be a stumbling block for Madrid. They want to sign Alaba but are not ready to pay that much on wages due to the financial damage caused by the coronavirus crisis.

Despite that, negotiations can step up on Jan. 1, when Alaba moves into the final six months of his contract in Munich, to see if they can knock that €20m down.

According to Bild, PSG are the team pressing most for the Austrian and Chelsea are the side willing to pay the most.
