Fabio Paratici has left the club as they continue their search for a new coach

Fabio Paratici is stepping down as Tottenham's Managing Director of Football with immediate effect of his own accord after his appeal against a 30-month FIFA ban for his time at Juventus was rejected. It is big news for the club's present and immediate future.

Spurs are left without a key figure in the club's structure for the final stretch of the season as Cristian Stellini continues as interim manager following the sacking of Antonio Conte. The club are still working on a guaranteed replacement for next season.

Paratici leaves after 22 months in the role. He is one of 11 former Juventus executives banned from Italian football after the federation used new evidence gathered in a separate criminal investigation, known as 'Prisma', to reopen a case it lost last year.

Waiting for Luis Enrique

Meanwhile, all eyes are on Luis Enrique. He is the name that has been sounding the loudest in recent weeks to coach Tottenham. Before the end of the season, the ex-Barcelona coach will have to choose between Chelsea and Spurs for his London adventure, as both teams are very interested in his signature.

In fact, Tottenham are preparing the first contact with Luis Enrique in their crusade to find a renowned coach around whom to build a project for the future. The appointment takes even more significance after the departure of Paratici, which will force a deep reconstruction by Daniel Levy, CEO of the club.

The statement on Paratici's exit:

"Yesterday -- 20 April 2023 -- Fabio Paratici was unsuccessful with an appeal against his Italian Football Federation (FIGC) ban on certain football related activities.

"FIFA ruled to extend the ban worldwide and, whilst there continues to be a dispute as to the scope and extent of the ban, the current worldwide ban prevents Fabio from fulfilling his duties as our Managing Director of Football. Fabio has consequently taken the decision to resign from his position at the Club with immediate effect to focus on his legal position in respect of the FIGC and FIFA rulings.

"Daniel Levy, Chairman: 'This has been a stressful time for Fabio and his family. We wanted to ensure that we allowed for due process to be followed. Fabio is a man who lives and breathes football - we wish him well.

"'As outlined in our year end results, we started several months ago to restructure our football operations and last week announced the appointment of Scott Munn as Chief Football Officer to head up all the departments. We shall continue to strengthen our football functions over the coming months.'”
