Al-Nassr agree Laporte fee in blow to Barcelona's hopes of Lenglet sale

Aymeric Laporte is on the verge of a move to Saudi Arabia. The Spanish centre-back is set to sign for Arabian club Al-Nassr in the coming days, who are set to bolster their defence with a top-level signing which could leave Barcelona without a buyer for Clement Lenglet.

Manchester City have given the green light for the transfer to be completed. Pep Guardiola was not counting on the centre-back for this season, so the move could happen sooner rather than later.

Pending Laporte agreeing contract terms with Al-Nassr, the Spain international will head to Saudi Arabia after speculation of a return to Athletic in recent days. However, the player has been persuaded by the unbeatable proposal to join a team with stars such as Sadio Mané, Marcelo Brozovic and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The defender, an undisputed starter in the Spain national team and recent winner of the Nations League, won the treble last season with Manchester City. At the age of 29, Laporte is ending his time in Europe.

The move could be a blow for Barça. The Catalan club had hoped to sell Lenglet to Al-Nassr for a fee rising to €15 million, but Laporte's transfer may end their interest in the Frenchman, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham but is now back at Barça.
