Goosebumps. Pure emotion. Barcelona passion. Camp Nou was rocking on a historic night. With a game that means a new era for women's football. Barcelona needed this party. The treble winners got what they deserved on Wednesday. A world record crowd for a unique team. A total of 91,553 supporters were inside the stadium despite the rain and the early kick-off as the players' dreams became a reality. With legendary club captain Carles Puyol in the stands, say next to men's coach Xavi Hernandez. Two heroes celebrating extraordinary footballers. An image that speaks for itself about the importance of the game.

It was a game that was an explosion of feelings, from the way thousands greeted the team to the giant mosaic in the stands: More Than Empowerment. And it ended with an atmosphere fitting of any Champions League night. Camp Nou was full of emotion and football. Great football. With a party complete. Because Barça achieved their sporting objective: beating Real Madrid to make the last four of the European Cup.

The women's game is empowered. It's shown it can be on the same scale as the men's. Both in social and media interest. Barça have been the architect of this transformation. And Camp Nou became the setting for the confirmation. Despite the 5-2 win, Madrid also competed and showed their progression as well. It was a wonder to witness.

Barça had to come from 2-1 down to seal the win. The tears of many players after the game was a reflection of what went down in the stadium. It was vindication for years of sacrifice, fighting and hard work from a team that deserved to have the doors to Camp Nou open every weekend. Wednesday's game cannot happen in isolation. It should be the first step towards a reality that this team deserves.
