Griezmann is pretending to be clueless. He tells the world what they want to hear while he prudently waits for the 1st July. Until then, all of his declarations will be identical. He'll continue to ride the waves and assure everyone that he still hasn't made a decision on his future. When, in reality, his future will be at the Camp Nou. The player knows, Barcelona know and of course, Atletico Madrid know too. Although Atletico are also acting clueless, just like Griezmann, so the fans don't turn on them either.

The 'Griezmann case' - which the media are really liking, of course - is continuing along the same path of that which the 'Neymar case' did last summer. And it will end with the same result: the buying club, in this case Barcelona, paying the clause of the player and him switching teams. If the Frenchman intended to stay at Atletico, the team he has a contract with until 2020, he's had plenty of opportunities to say as much in the past few weeks. But he didn't. In fact, quite the opposite. Griezmann doesn't want to make a statement on his future but it doesn't only depend on him. Griezmann can't announce he is joining Barcelona because he needs them to pay his buyout clause. And this can't happen until, at the very earliest, the 1st July. It could even be delayed until after the World Cup.

At Barcelona they are very relaxed about the situation. They know that they've got the deal tied up, even though nothing has been signed yet. But don't worry, Barcelona have the best guarantee to assure the transfer will happen: the choice, and dream, of Griezmann is to play alongside Lionel Messi.
