Football Club Barcelona have 10 games to make history

To be unique, to be pioneers in passing challenges and reaching goals that in everybody’s eyes seemed impossible has become the Barcelona way in recent years. Some examples: the first club to win six titles in a season, to win two trebles, to come back from 4-0 down in the Champions League… Now the club has another chance to make their mark, another challenge to go down in football history, let alone just Barcelona history. It’s a trick one, but in these moments  they are the only team that can do it and to do so would show the commitment that Barcelona have at each level in football.

The challenge is very complex. 10 games of football, 900 minutes, extra-time apart, to bring in three UEFA trophies. This is the path: five games for the first team, three more for the women’s team and two for the Juvenil side would give Barcelona a never-before seen treble. Barcelona and the youth side have tasted maximum success in Europe, but the women’s side has never—this is the first time they have reached the semi-finals. To be in this situation is already a prize of sorts for the club. But to win three Champions Leagues would create a new precedent. There are other clubs, like Real Madrid, that are trying to hurry on board the world of female football. Using their chequebook by absorbing another side as they have no current structure.

We must savour this moment and enjoy the good work of all three teams in Europe, dreaming of a treble that UEFA would have to invent a recognition for.
