La Roja will play either Australia or England in the final on Sunday in Sydney

Spain are into their first-ever Women's World Cup final after recording their first-ever win over Sweden in a dramatic finale in Auckland on Tuesday.

Olga Carmona fired in an 89th-minute winner to hand Spain a 2-1 win and book their place in Sunday's showpiece against either England or Australia.

Carmona's goal capped a crazy last 10 minutes which featured all three of the game's goals.

Substitute Salma Paralluelo, who replaced Alexia Putellas who had returned to the Spain XI, opened the scoring in the 81st minute.

The Barcelona forward, who scored the winner against Netherlands in the quarterfinal, turned home smartly inside the box.

It was a deserved lead for La Roja, who had been the better side, but it forced Sweden to attack and they soon levelled.

Substitutes Lina Hurtig and Rebecka Blomqvist combined for the latter to equalise in the 88th minute and seemingly set up extra time.

But there was to be another twist as Carmona rifled in off the bar from 20 yards to earn Spain their first-ever win in 12 attempts against Sweden.

More importantly, it booked a date with history in Sunday's final, while sending Sweden, who had knocked out the United States and Japan, home.
