Messi scored his ninth goal in six games since moving to MLS from 32 yards

Lionel Messi led Inter Miami to their first-ever final with another goal n their 4-1 win over Philadelphia Union in the Leagues Cup semi-final on Tuesday, seizing the opportunity to score the longest goal of his career with a missile from more than 32 yards.

With the score at 0-1, Messi latched on to a through ball from Venezuelan Josef Martinez in the middle of the pitch and saw goalkeeper Andre Blake retreat into his goal in disarray.

The genius from Rosario thought nothing of it, unleashing a low, hard left-footed shot from over 32 yards that caught an unresponsive Blake by surprise and, according to the official Leagues Cup broadcast on Apple TV+, was the furthest goal of Messi's glorious career.

It was also Messi's ninth goal in just six games for Inter Miami. All six of those games have ended in wins for the Florida side.

Inter Miami will face the winner of the Nashville, who beat Monterrey, in the final. The Leagues Cup final berth comes with an extra prize as it qualifies Inter Miami for the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Josef Martinez, Jordi Alba and David Ruiz scored Miami's other goals, while Alejandro Bedoya scored for Philadelphia.
