Elche and Celta ended the game with a 1-1 draw at Estadio Martínez Valero

Elche was held down on Friday at Estadio Martínez Valero by Celta as the game ended 1-1. Elche and Celta arrived at this match after suffering a defeat in their previous league game. Elche faced the match with a desire to make up their league after losing against Real Betis 3-1 while Celta fell defeated by 1-4 in the last match they played against Real Sociedad. As of today, Elche and Celta occupy position 9th (11 points) and 17th (7 points) respectively after playing a total of 9 matches.

The first half of the game started in favour of Elche, with a good early penalty goal from Fidel in the 4th minute. Celta gave an equalizer thanks to a goal from Santi Mina in the 41st minute just before the end of the 45 minutes to establish the 1-1, thereby seeing the first half to a 1-1.

Elche and Celta were struggling to produce anything in the second half and the teams went to the dressing room locked in a 1-1.

For Elche Juan Sanchez Mino, Josema, Emiliano Rigoni, Raul Guti and Nino came on for Fidel, Diego Gonzalez, Pere Milla, Omenuke Mfulu and Emiliano Rigoni, while Celta brought on Fran Beltran, Miguel Rodriguez and Gabriel Veiga to replace Renato Tapia, Santi Mina and Brais Mendez.

The referee booked Diego Gonzalez, Lucas Boye and Antonio Barragan from Elche, while for Celta Denis Suarez, Lucas Olaza, Iago Aspas and Miguel Rodriguez saw a yellow card as well.

Celta and Elche will play at away stadium against Sevilla and Levante respectively.
