Why did Griezmann speak today?

Antoine Griezmann compareció ante los medios de comunicación con Francia, pero no dijo nada sobre su futuro. Hoy no es el día, afirmó el delantero / | @beinsports_fr

It was the striker's turn to appear at the press conference. He didn't have any other choice but to speak in front of the media

Just as it looked as if this would prove to be a key day to find out what Antoine Griezmann's future holds, everyone thought he would announce his decision today, it was in reality a press conference which he was obligated to attend.

Most of the French team have already spoken to the media, with the exception of the captain Hugo Lloris and vice captain Blaise Matuidi, and this afternoon it was the turn of Griezmann and Steven N'Zonzi.

From there the Atletico forward was placed in front of the cameras and quizzed over his future. Griezmann, however, decided it wasn't the time to talk about his decision but he did at least admit that a decision has been made.

The forward said it "wasn't the time nor the place" to explain where he would be playing next season. He even admitted that situations such as the one he is currently experiencing aren't going to impact on his performances as he's used to the speculation surrounding his future.

The most surprising part, without question, was that he acknowledged a decision has been made. Although, for now, he's choosing to keep what that is a secret.

There appears to be no logical reason behind Griezmann delaying the announcement of a new deal, if he is to stay at Atletico, and it would now be more surprising if the forward doesn't switch clubs this summer.
