Alexia Putellas prioritising staying at Barcelona

With the 2022/23 season over, work continues at FC Barcelona in the offices. Barca are firmly committed to women's football and is working to ensure that the team remains at the top after this year's success, culminating in a second Champions League title.

All the players who were due to finish their contracts on June 30 signed their contracts before the final and decisive part of the season. Now, Markel Zubizarreta and his team are tackling the renewals for next season.

There are 14 players under contract until June 2024. Mapi León, Patri Guijarro, Mariona Caldentey, Sandra Paños and, among others, Alexia Putellas.

Despite reports published in Madrid about her possible departure (El Laguero explained on Thursday that the board would not be too displeased by her departure), the captain only has eyes for Barça, as SPORT has learned, and her priority is to continue.

It is true that she is in talks with the club about her renewal, and also that she has offers from other teams, as is normal in the case of a Ballon d'Or winner - especially someone who has won it two years in a row. 

However, Alexia is very excited about the upcoming season, after a bitter year due to injury, and also convinced that they can reach an agreement to continue walking together reaping success hand in hand.
