FC Barcelona player Aitana Bonmatí received the 'Woman Sport' 2023 award this Monday at the third edition of the Women in Sport Awards, organised by the SPORT newspaper. The FC Barcelona midfielder, in this way, continues to accumulate accolades in an unforgettable 2023.

After receiving the award, Aitana said that "thanks to SPORT and Woman for this award, which is very special for me". She added that if she has been worthy of it, it is because "I have been lucky enough to play in a Champions League and win it, a World Cup and win it too.... I just want to thank those who have made it possible, including the staff and my teammates."

The player from Sant Pere de Ribes was asked if she dreams of winning the Ballon d'Or: "Whenever I'm asked this question I always answer the same thing: I'm focused on my work, on the day to day, which is what will lead me to this type of award."

The FC Barcelona player will remember the year 2023 for titles won with the club (Spanish Super Cup, La Liga and Champions League) and with the Spanish national team (World Cup in Australia and New Zealand).

She'll also remember it for her individual achievements: MVP and in the ideal team of the Champions League, top scorer of the Spanish Super Cup (two goals, both in the final), Golden Ball at the World Cup and the UEFA award for the Best Player in Europe. All of these awards place Aitana Bonmatí on the verge of winning what could be her first Ballon d'Or.
