Xavi on wanting reinforcements, Yamal and Neymar

Xavi Hernández was satisfied with the good feelings the team left on Montjuïc after winning the Trofeu Joan Gamper against Tottenham (4-2). The Blaugrana coach repeated the message he gave in his presentation speech, before the start of the game, asking the fans to make an effort. He also asked the board of directors to make an effort to bring in the reinforcements that have yet to arrive.

But the most surprising thing was that he did not assure the continuity of Ansu Fati when he was expressly asked: "He is training well, like Ferran Torres, but until 31 August we cannot say anything, because we have a fair play issue". That said, Xavi sent a new message to the board: "We have to reinforce well. The sporting department and the president know that. We'll see what fair play allows us to do."

The coach was confident that he will be able to count on his entire squad for the league opener at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, against Getafe: "The board is reassuring me about the registrations".

The Blaugrana coach dodged the question about the possibility of Neymar's return: "I can't say anything about names. I said something last year and they got angry."

He did talk about the big star of the night, Lamine Yamal, although he did so cautiously: "Lamine is a talent that we have to 'dose'. It's wonderful to see him play with this kind of cheek, but Ansu and Ferran were also very good. Those who came on in the second half were very good".

Xavi confirmed that he replaced Ronald Araujo as a precaution: "It was just an injury and the feeling is that he will be fit for Sunday".

And he congratulated himself on the good vibes he got from the opener at Montjuïc: "The feeling was good. We have to adapt, but we have been at ease. We have to encourage people to come, because we need them. Last year we won titles thanks to the fans".

On the match he acknowledged that they didn't play their best game: "We weren't as good as against Milan, but the end of the match was good. We played against a great team with a lot of rhythm. We started well, but the first half didn't quite work. The changes and the change of system allowed us to react".
