"Working with Xavi is very special" says Pjanic on his role model
The Bosnian praised his coach and is confident of having a good season under his orders, and also applauded the signing of Lewandowski, saying he will add a lot to their attack
FC Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic confessed that playing under Xavi Hernandez was a privilege to him, in an interview for Fanatik. "Xavi has always been a role model midfielder for me. I followed him with admiration."
The Bosnian, who spent last season on loan at Besiktas and whose future remains unknown, acknowledged that the coach was an inspiration. "For me, he is one of the best midfielders of all time in the world. Working with him is very special," the player said.
The former Juventus player is also confident he can have a great season in the Barcelona jersey. "I have a contract with Barcelona until 2024. This year we will be working with our new coach Xavi. I hope it will be a very good season for the team and for me".
Pjanic also did not hesitate to applaud Barça's new signing, Poland's Robert Lewandowski. "He is a proven top scorer in the world. Apart from that, we have very good players in the offensive line," he affirmed.
The former Roma player was also honest in admitting the clubs lack of goals last season and the lack of trophies. "The team has not had a good time in terms of success the last two seasons," he conceded.
