Why has Leo Messi still not signed his contract renewal?
The club say it's just a minor delay due to "agendas"

The rumours surroundung Lionel Messi have increased in the last few days. Especially since vice president Jordi Mestre revealed at Paulinho's presentation that the Argentine has still not signed the contract renewal he agreed in the summer, contradicting what president Josep Maria Bartomeu had previously said.
During the last few hours, there has even been speculation that Manchester City would pay Messi's buyout clause (300 million euros) and Pep Guardiola, on Monday night, fed the firs by suggesting someone may be prepared to pay it after Paris Saint-Germain splashed 222 million euros on Neymar.
However, SPORT have learned from sources at FC Barcelona, that Messi not signing his renewal yet is an agenda problems. "They've still not been able to get their agendas in line," the soruce said. SPORT can confirm that there is no inconvenience on either side and the renewal agreement is total and will be signed soon.
They're just seeking an "adequate" date to make the announcement after the transfer window closes. From the club's point of view they feel it's better to wait until then, until everything else is finalised, to give the renewal the media attention it deserves.
