The coach will make changes to the side which best Alaves last weekend

There were some surprised in Ernesto Valverde's side for Barcelona's opening league game at Camp Nou against Alaves last weekend. The coach picked Sergi Roberto on the right of midfield, with Ivan Rakitic on the left, and Philippe Coutinho on the bench.

The Txingurri rectified things in the second half, taking off Nelson Semedo and moving Sergi Roberto back to the right-back position. The team was more recognisable as Coutinho came on, adding more to the attack. Valverde is likely to stick with the Brazilian against Real Valladolid this weekend. The doubt, though, is who will accompany him and, above all, what system will be used: 4-3-3 with Ousmane Dembele wide or a more conservative 4-4-2?

If Dembele plays from the off, it will be with Lionel Messi and Luis Suare in attack, while, in principle, Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic will join Coutinho in midfield. The possible use of Arturo Vidal, offering more power through the middle, could see a 4-4-2, with Dembele sacrificed.

There are less doubts in defence, given Jordi Alba has no competition and the middle of the back four is for Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti. Valverde, however, could make a change depending on how he sees his players at this early stage of the season, to make sure he doesn't force things too soon after a short pre-season for many of his squad.
