The secret clause in Valverde's contract that could ease his departure
There's a fixed sum which will be handed to the coach should he, or the club, decide it's time to go their separate ways
FC Barcelona are going through a complicated time at the moment. The elimination from the Champions League has left its mark and still hurts. The person being blamed for the embarrassment is head coach Ernesto Valverde as he didn't learn his lessons from last season's defeat at Roma.
Valverde penned a new deal taking him until 2020 with the option of another season after that. This was signed in February after a fine start to LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and in the Champions League. However the mood has changed and now it looks as if they are heading along different paths.
One interesting fact about his new contract is there exists an exit clause which can be activated by either Valverde or the club itself at the end of each season. This means that should Valverde be told he's no longer needed in the summer the club wouldn't need to pay up the remaining year left on his deal.
