The club says he has 14 working days starting this Saturday - until 19 September

Benedito on the other hand thinks he has until 2 October

Agustí Benedito submitted the documentation required to start the motion of no confidence against Bartomeu’s board. And the fist disagreement has already arisen.

According to Jordi Cardoner, the current Vice-President, Benedito has 14 working days to collect the 16,570 days to collect the signatures required. And he considers Saturdays working days. Benedito says the statutes give him up to five days to collect the forms and that Saturdays cannot be considered working days.

The sponsors of the motion say they have until 8 September, the day before Barça play Espanyol, to collect the forms. This would mean that 12 September would be the first working day of the countdown, and 2 October the last day.

This would include four matches – against Eibar, Juventus, and Las Palmas as well as the derby. “We are not going to give three or four days in the calendar. The fifth working day after the forms have been requested will be 8 September. From this date, we start to count 14 working days and the deadline is 2 October. Therefore, we have the chance to collect signatures the day of the games against Espanyol, Juventus, Eibar and Las Palmas,” Benedito said.

After the statute change a few years ago, 15% rather than the 5% of socios it took in 2008 have to back a vote of no confidence.

Benedito does not think that a last minute transfer would affect whether the socios support his motion or not. “The reasons for a vote of no confidence cannot respond to sporting criteria at all. The reasons are very profound. There is an institutional, social and financial crisis. And for this board, it is impossible for them to get out of it,” he added.
