The midfielder joined Barça in the summer from the Brazilian side

The deal to bring Arthur Melo to Barcelona from Gremio features a number of clauses which will see the initial 32.8 million euro fee rise.

One of the first additional payments could become effective on Saturday when Barça host Athletic Bilbao at Camp Nou in La Liga.

BRAZIL CAP... NO PRIZE

According to Brazilian journalist Eduardo Gabardo (@eduardogabardo), there are no bonus payments for Gremio based on international football, even though the Brazilian club wanted there to be.

However, they did manage to convince Barça to pay an additional 10 million euros in potential add-ons.

FOUR BONUS PAYMENTS

The first of them is imminent and becomes effective when Arthur plays his 10th game for Barça. The midfielder has now played nine games and if he'd come on against Leganes, it would have been game number 10.

It will happen sooner or later, though, be that against Athletic this weekend or next week against Tottenham in the Champions League. It will all depend on the tactical needs of Ernesto Valverde.

Barça also must pay bonuses for titles they win with Arthur in their side and another amount when he signs a contract renewal. The fourth payment will be made if he makes the 55-man shortlist for FIFA's The Best.

The total of the add-ons will not go above 10 million euros, which can be added on to the 32.8 million the Catalan club had already paid for the Brazil international in the summer.

FIXED PRICE

Barça brought forward their option to sign Arthur in the summer, paying an additional 2.8 million euros to fast-track a deal which had been planned for January.

Prior to that, in March 2018, the Blaugrana had paid four million euros for the right to have a preferential option on Arthur.

These 6.8 million euros can be added to the 26 million which the club agreed to pay in two instalments: the first last month and the second in January.
