Around 10 autograph hunters were waiting in the hotel where Poland are staying in Warsaw. The internationals arrived one by one in their own cars to join up with Czeslaw Michniewicz’s squad.
The last to arrive was Robert Lewandowski. He turned up with a Mediterranean look, a white shirt and sunglasses, despite one of those present saying ‘he looks Irish’. A wink to the climate in Barcelona? Maybe, because Robert wanted to talk.
Fans waited for a selfie and an autograph and he didn’t have a no for anybody. The media watched from a distance, waiting for their turn in the press conference.
May 30, 2022 was the day that Lewandowski said ‘enough’. He did after training, but his arrival at the hotel and body language implied something was going to happen. In the session, he seemed to weigh less.
