Barça take on Atletico in the semifinal in Saudi Arabia on Thursday

Barcelona are the kings of the Spanish Supercopa. With 13 titles, they have won it more than anyone else since the competition was launched.

On Thursday, they begin their campaign for No.14 with a semifinal game against Atletico Madrid in Saudi Arabia as they look to retain their crown.

Real Madrid or Valencia would be waiting in the final if they can beat Atletico as they look for their first trophy of the 2019-20 season. If they manage it, it would be Ernesto Valverde's fifth trophy since he took over (two leagues, one Copa del Rey and one Supercopa so far).

CHANGES

CHANGESUntil recently the Supercopa was a two-legged game between the league winners and the cup winners. If one team had won both, the cup runners-up would take on the double winners.

Last year, due to a problem with scheduling, Barça beat Sevilla in a one-off game in Morocco. This year, things have been changed completely.

Four teams will take part in a revamped tournament in Saudi Arabia. The league winners (Barça) and the cup winners (Valencia) have been joined by the second and third-placed finishers in Spain (Atletico and Madrid).

The semifinals will be played in Jeddah on Wednesday and Thursday, with the winners meeting in the final on Sunday.
