Sofyan Ambrabat maintains his desire to play for Barça, talks with Fiorentina ongoing

In Italy, it is speculated that the player has asked his club to let him leave for a bigger club

Barça had all but ruled out a move for Sofyan Amrabat, but the twists and turns of the transfer market could change still that.

'Gazzetta dello Sport' explains that the Moroccan midfielder has asked Fiorentina to let him leave and that he desires to take a step forward in his career. The player has been targetted by Bayern, Manchester United and Barça. None of them have yet to reach an agreement because of his pricetag.

Barça have opted for the signing of Oriol Romeu, but they still consider Amrabat a valuable addition. The director of soccer, Mateu Alemany, has continued to maintain contact with his entourage, but any move would require a reduction in the transfer price and for Barça to make some sales in midfield. A couple of clubs are seeking Kessié, but it has not been formalized yet.

Fiorentina have been firm in their valuation of the player and are adamant about the 30 million euros price, although his entourage believe that with time the final price could go down. The Italians are willing to facilitate his departure and have been open to talks.

Amrabat was very close to signing for Barça last January, but Fiorentina did not accept a loan with a mandatory buy option citing the viability of the Blaugrana club being able to pay for the deal on time. The Italians though do not want to keep a player in the squad against his wishes.
