Liverpool have broke the market by making Virgil van Dijk the world's most expensive centre-back. The Premier League side have signed the Dutch defender for 85 million euros from Southampton.
It's a demonstration of economic strength and power from the club where Philippe Coutinho plays, as they beat Pep Guardiola's Manchester City to can Dijk's signature.
European clubs have taken notice of the deal, Barcelona being one of them. Above all because the French defender's 60 million euro release clause all of a sudden looks very cheap.
