Ronald Koeman: We have to highlight the captains' attitude
The Barca coach praised Pique and Co as they take pay cuts to help out
Barcelona have struggled to register their new signings, but were able to after Gerard Pique took a pay cut. The other captains are set to follow suit.
Ronald Koeman was asked about the situation and Leo Messi’s departure at his press conference on Saturday.
“It’s painful to see Messi at PSG for all Cules. Everything he has done. We miss him. But we can’t live in the past. These are things that happen, there’s a future with the young players we have, so that’s why I am hopeful. I hope that we have the help of Barca fans, we have to work hard to achieve what we want to achieve.”
On the sacrifice of Pique and the captains, he added: “We have to highlight the attitude of Gerard, Sergi Roberto, Busquets and Alba, because they have all been for years at the club and want to help improve its economic situation. It’s important and shows they are people from here.”
