Rennes have struck gold with the transfer of Dembélé to Barcelona
The French club will receive €20 million
They were entitled to a percentage of any fee Dortmund received for the player
Renne, the team where Ousmane Dembélé started out, have struck gold with the transfer of the player to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund. The French club will earn a percentage of the fee and are rubbing their hands in anticipation of the transfer going through.
It’s thought that Rennes could receive €20 million of the fee, in addition to the €15 million Dortmund paid last year. Barça have been after the player since last year but the player decided to move to German to continue his development. However, he always wanted to play for Barça one day.
That’s why he reached a tacit agreement with Dortmund that, if Barça made a bid for him in 2018, the German club would let him leave. However, the transfer of Neymar brought Barça’s schedule forward.
