Record: Barça break the 1,000 pass mark against Borussia Monchengladbach

Umtiti & Mascherano were most successful, while Iniesta heavily involved during hour on the pitch

As well as winning 4-0, seeing Javier Mascherano reach 300 appearances for the club and Messi 549, drawing him level with Migueli, Barcelona also made history against Borussia Monchengladbach for attempting over 1,000 passes. Luis Enrique's side made 1,029 passes, completing 930 of them (90 percent). 

It's the first time a side has completed over 1,000 in one Champions League game since the number of passes began being recoreded. According to UEFA's data, Javier Mascherano and Samuel Umtiti were the most successful passers of the ball -- both completed 96 percent. The Argentine managed 131/137 and the Frenchman 115/120. 

The next in line was Andre Gomes, who played in Sergio Busquets' role against the Bundesliga side. The Croatian completed 125 of his 132 passes (95 percent). The least involved was Marc Cardona (4/5), although he was only on the pitch for 17 minutes. Andres Iniesta, despite playing just an hour, impressively managed to complete 108/119 passes.
