Serra Ferrer has returned to Betis as vice-president and knows Barcelona well

Marlon has started Barça's last two games and may have a future in the first team

Marlon Santos' performances have not gone unnoticed. The Brazilian defender has been given the chance to start Barcelona's last two matches in La Liga with Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano both out. And against both Las Palmas and Eibar he showed signs he could go on to be a great centre-back.

Barcelona count on Marlon for next season and have already agreed to turn his loan from Fluminense into a permanent deal, giving him a five-year contract. But Real Betis are watching the situation and would like to take him on loan, which seems unlikely at the moment given he's close to consolidating himself in the first team and there's no need to go on loan to another La Liga side.

Betis, after an inconsistent season, want to change things up and are looking for new centre-backs as part of that change. And according to muchodeporte.com, Marlon's an option which has gathered strength. The Verdiblnaco have Llorenç Serra Ferrer as sporting vice-president now and he will be in charge of configuring the squad.

Due to his Blaugrana past, Serra Ferrer knows Barça perfectly and it's possbile that as well as Marlon he is also looking at some of the B team players currently focusing on fighting for promotion to the second division of Spanish football -- and maybe some first team players, too. Marlon is a good option financially for Betis, while they're also said to be looking at Mere (Sporting) and Fontas (Celta) as other options.
