Valencia's owner Peter Lim won't sanction the midfielder's transfer to the club and would instead prefer to see Kangin Lee play

It looks like the door has shut on Rafinha's possible move to Valencia. Unfortunately his transfer has been one of the causes for the latest crisis meetings for Los Che. The owner, Peter Lim, wants more control of the deals in and out of the club and he personally blocked a move for Rafinha. The reason behind this is because he feels the squad place should go to Kangin Lee instead.

Rafinha was keen to join up with Marcelino at Valencia and the two clubs were discussing the structure of a transfer which suited everyone. Lim wasn't concerned by the midfielder's fitness issues but rather wanting to see a younger player get more minutes rather than having to loan him out.

Marcelino is a big fan of Lee but feels the 18-year-old isn't ready for the demands at Valencia and would benefit from a loan elsewhere to advance his development. This all but ends Rafinha's chances of securing a move to Mestalla and he might need to look at options in Italy once again.
