Saturday's tests revealed Mingo and Ilias have coronavirus and must isolate

Barcelona's preseason began on Saturday with PCR tests for the first team and B team players summoned by coach Ronald Koeman.

There was bad news for two players. Barça have confirmed that youngsters Ramos Mingo and Ilias have both tested positive for coronavirus and will not be able to begin preseason.

They will be in confinement for 10 days at their respective homes and will then have further tests before being allowed to return to training.

On Sunday, Barça's other players began fitness tests ahead of Monday's return to ball work as Koeman works with a limited group due to Euro 2020 and the Copa America.

No Barça players are currently involved in those tournaments anymore, though, following the conclusion of the Copa America on Saturday, as Lionel Messi's Argentina beat Brazil in the final.

As for Euro 2020, Martin Braithwaite was the club's last representative in the competition, but his Denmark side lost in the semifinal to England a day after Spain were beaten by Italy.

The players will now have some time off before returning to training ahead of the new season on Aug. 15.
