The coach was planning to meet Coutinho last week to discuss his performances

Philippe Coutinho’s performance this season at Barcelona are a worry for Barcelona, with their record signing not delivering. For a lot of games he’s been playing below his best and the directors of the team are concerned, with Ernesto Valverde at the forefront.

They believe Coutinho should be a key part of the team and improving his performance is vital if they are to win the Champions League. La Liga they can win without him, but to succeed in Europe, they need what he can give.

Valverde was planning to meet Coutinho last week to find a solution to the crisis that is being generated. The coach wanted to talk to the Brazilian to find out why he is performing badly, a situation which off the pitch seems to be affecting him too.

Whether the coach has found the time to sit down with the Brazilian yet we don’t know.

Valverde wants Coutinho back and has kept him in the team despite his form. He believes in the Brazilian and thinks continuing to play him will help. The Brazilian has started in all but one of the last six games, scoring one goal and providing no assists.

The coach wanted to meet with the player to discuss this form and take measures to get him back to his best.
