Paris Saint-Germain insisting on Betis & Barça right-back Emerson

Paris Saint-Germain's search to strengthen at right-back has led them to Emerson Royal, the Barcelona defender on loan at Real Betis.

As revealed by Cadena Cope, the Brazilian full-back's agent has already met with PSG sporting director Leonardo.

The cited media explain that PSG like Emerson a lot. Flornezi, who will return to Roma in the summer, is their current right-back and academy prospect Colin Dagba doesn't convince.

SPORT previously revealed that Leonardo was hot on Emerson and was prepared to offer around 25 million euros, money that would relieve the financial burden on Barça.

Emerson has a contract at Camp Nou until 2024 but is co-owned by Betis. This is his second season with the Seville club but he's due to return to Barça in the summer.

The former Atlético Mineiro man's form in Spain has impressed several European clubs and he's also drawn interest from Milan, who offered 20 million for him last summer.

But no agreement could be reached in the end due to the fact Barça would have had to pay a penalty fee to Betis if they ended his stay at the club before June 2021.

Position covered

At Barça, there is no rush. They have the position well covered with the performances of the recently signed Sergiño Dest, only 20, and Sergi Roberto.

Emerson's intention is to do pre-season with Barça and let the new president decide what steps to take with regards to his future.
