The Ajax sporting director says Barca weren't offering enough money for the starlet
Marc Overmars is certain that Barcelona did not offer Ajax enough money to sign Frenkie De Jong this summer. The Catalans wanted to sign the young Ajax midfielder.
"Barca did not value De Jong, the offer did not correspond to Frenkie's qualities," said the Ajax sporting director.
"They could come back for Frenkie in January but our players will not leave during this period."
At Barcelona they want De Jong to add to the midfield, he has similar qualities to Busquets but is better at arriving in the box. De Jong can play as an interior midfielder or deeper and his versatility is valued by Barcelona.
