Ousmane Dembele tells Barca of his deal with PSG

| sport

Ousmane Dembele left on Thursday morning for Paris, taking advantage of the fact that Xavi had given the squad a few days off until next Monday. The aim, of course, was to finalise his deal with PSG so that he could leave Barça. As everything had already been discussed, there was no problem and the Frenchman notified the Blaugrana in the afternoon, of his agreement with the Parisian club.

It was an essential step and one that was stipulated in the contractual terms that still link the winger with Barça, who are now obliged to negotiate, as they are doing, with the French club. It is the two teams who must agree on the formula for a transfer that is also fixed at 50 million euros, a figure identical to the termination clause that expired on July 31, which Dembele did not use to buy his freedom.

Ousmane, in fact, has not yet passed his medical with PSG, nor has he signed his new five-season contract, with a salary similar to the one he earned at Barça (trading 16m + 4m variables at Camp Nou for the fixed 20m pay packet in Paris). Until the clubs agree on the details of the transfer, he will not undergo the medical or officially seal his transfer or, obviously, be presented. Basically, Dembele remains a Barça player until there is full agreement between the clubs.

The problem is how the 50m euros gets paid to Barca. If the clause had been activated, it would have been half to Barca and half to the player. However there are discrepancies in the interpretation of the deal. Barcelona believe Dembele should give up his 25m euros. The conflict will be resolved likely during the negotiations with PSG.
