The English side do not have an option to make the move permanent

Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet has completed a season-long loan move to Tottenham Hotspur, the two clubs confirmed Friday.

Tottenham do not have an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

Lenglet, 27, joined Barça from Sevilla ahead of the 2018/19 season and has been an important member of the defence since then, playing 160 games in official competitions, 132 of those in starting line-up.

Antonio Conte is looking to strengthen his Spurs team after guiding them into the Champions League last season ahead of Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Italian coach plays with a back three and Lenglet, a left-footer, should slot in on the left side of the trio.

Lenglet, meanwhile, is hoping regular football in London can propel him into the France squad for the World Cup. He has 15 caps for his country.
