Official: Barcelona confirm the transfer of Nico Gonzalez to FC Porto
The midfielder has joined the Portuguese club on a permanent deal
Official. Barcelona have announced the transfer of midfielder Nico González to Porto. The deal is worth €8.5 million to the Catalan club and the Galician has signed with the Portuguese side for five seasons, until 2028.
Nico spent last season on loan at Valencia, but was unable to play regularly due to injuries and coaching changes. Even so, he has a good reputation and will end up joining one of the big clubs in the Portuguese league.
Barça had originally intended to loan him out in order to have full control over his future. However, the club's financial difficulties and Porto's demands have led to his transfer.
Nevertheless, the club is aware of the player's potential and did not want to completely lose control of him. That is why they have managed to add a buy-back option for the next few years for €30 million, as well as a percentage of a future sale of the player.
This operation will allow the Blaugrana to lighten their roster, save a salary and bringing in a sum of money with which to continue to strengthen their squad during the summer market.
