Official! Barça announce signing of Senegal defender Mikayil Faye

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Mikayil Faye for next season, a Senegalese player who played for NK Kustosija Zagreb and who has signed for the next four seasons, until 2027. The defender will have a 400 million euro buy-out clause. 

The centre-back stands out for his physical strength and good ball control from the left side of defence. He is a fast player and his intelligence on the pitch has already allowed him to become an international with the Senegal U17 team.

This is the club's statement:

"FC Barcelona and NK Kustosija Zagreb have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Mikayil Faye for the next four seasons, until 30 June 2027, with a termination clause of 400 million euros.

"The player has already passed the relevant medical tests at the Barcelona Hospital and the Medical Services of the Joan Gamper Sports City, has seen the club's facilities and has walked on the pitch of the Johan Cruyff Stadium wearing the kit. The only thing that remains to be done now is the official signing of the contract that will link him to the club."

Faye came through the ranks at Diambars FC in the Gambian league and his fine form impressed some of Europe's top youth teams. Finally, it was NK Kustosija who signed him in the January transfer window to play in the Corsican second division for the last six months.
