The Argentine believes De Jong -- and teammate De Ligt -- have Barça DNA

Lionel Messi is an insatiable footballer. That much he has shown on the pitch during the 14 years he has played for Barcelona's first team.

The Argentine lives for winning titles and knows that for that to happen he must be surrounded by the best. That's the position from which he has always negotiated his renewals, with the priority being to have a winning team around him.

Barça work on signing the top players or players with the potential to be worldwide stars. That's been the policy in recent seasons and on that line of thinking is the latest signing: Frenkie de Jong.

The midfielder is one of Ajax's players who has caught Barça's attention. The other is defender Matthijs de Ligt.

Messi has backed the signing of De Jong, as well as a possible move for De Ligt. The Argentine gave his opinion in an interview with World Soccer.

"They come from a very similar school to ours and they work in the same way. They play like us, with the ball. They are young players, with great precision, and they are both really good players," Messi said.

Messi knows what he's talking about, from his time in Barça's academy, and he knows that coming from the Ajax school will ease the adaption to the Catalan's game.
