Marcos Alonso's move to Barça is delayed by Frenkie de Jong's situation

Marcos Alonso is still waiting to sign for Barça and has received word that they will sign him before the end of the window. The Spanish club have claimed that their priority is registering their players, and will handle his signing later. But the truth is that Chelsea have put the deal on hold while awaiting the future of Frenkie de Jong. The London club would like to include the wingback in the De Jong deal, but the Dutchman remains unresolved and so the Marcos Alonso deal has been stalled.

Chelsea, who have already committed to releasing Marcos Alonso, wanted to offer around 80 million for De Jong and include Marcos Alonso for less than 10 million. The offer suits both clubs, but it needs the Dutchman's approval which is looking very unlikely.

In any case, Barça have given the Dutchman an ultimatum. If he wants to continue he must reduce his salary by almost fifty percent, or else he must leave since Barça cannot afford his current salary.

Marcos Alonso will not play this weekend with Chelsea and hopes that his signing can be formalised next week. If his deal is not linked to De Jong's, the player will arrive on a direct transfer to Barça and will sign for the next three seasons.
