Leo Messi will turn 32 in June and he arrives at that age in the best moment of his life. Whatever happens in the UCL and the Copa. Obviously, winning will improve those feelings, but even defeat would not end the happiness Messi is feeling.
The image of Leo on his knees with his son Mateo on the Camp Nou pitch is the best summary of how Messi feels. He lifted his first league title as captain, 10th in total, and after he was hugging his three children, with whom he has formed a grand family along with his wife Antonella. The player is completely happy on a family level and he can enjoy himself with his most intimate nucleus.

This is Messi’s first season as captain. He feels proud of that and responsible, which his team-mates have noted. One of them told Sport that “his degree of commitment to the team is impressive. I’ve only seen him upset when he has not been able to help as he believes he should be able to.”
And as it’s strange to see a game in which he doesn’t help, well, his satisfaction is huge.
WORK WITH VALVERDE
Messi knows he’s at a point in his life where family and work fit like a glove. He’s mature and full realised in all senses. For a while, football was the absolute priority, almost an obsession, but Antonella and the birth of his three sons have turned Leo into someone who loves football but leaving to one side the obsessions that don’t help him.
As proof of that, Valverde has reached a level of complicity with Leo so that when he should rest, he does, like any other member of the squad. For example, the first leg of the Copa del Rey quarters against Sevilla. The coach told him his decision and Leo accepted it without problems. The confidence between them is enormous. The difference between this and the Lucho era, in this sense, is notable.
