The Barcelona striker struck twice in Saturday's 4-0 win

Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski found the net again against Elche, putting an end to the poor run of form that had dogged him in recent matches. The Poland international had gone three consecutive games without a goal in LaLiga, equalling his previous worst goalscoring run in the competition. The goal also put an end to his worst run in the last five years, having gone five games in a row without scoring between Barça (three games) and the Polish national team (two more).

Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 20th minute via an assist from Araujo and then rounded off his performance with a second goal in the 66th minute after a pass from Gavi. He has now scored 17 goals in the competition and remains at the top of the scoring charts The Blaugrana striker was thus able to take the thorn out of his side after not having been able to beat the rival goalkeeper against Almería, Athletic and Real Madrid. Against Valencia, he was unable to play due to injury. His last goal in La Liga came on 19 February against Cádiz.

His previous worst record was also three games between 5 November and 31 December, when he blanked against Almería, Osasuna and Espanyol in succession. In contrast, his best record came at the start of the season when he scored in six consecutive La Liga matches. His tally between the second and seventh matchday was nine goals.

He can not only boast of being the provisional Pichichi, but also of being the player who has opened the scoring most times in LaLiga. He has done so on seven occasions.

If you count all competitions, the goals he scored against Elche also allowed Lewandowski to put an end to his worst personal run since 2018, according to 'Pedrito números'. Back then, he had also gone five consecutive games without a goal. At that time it was three matches with Bayern Munich and two with the Polish national team. This time it has been three matches with Barça and two with Poland.
