Chelsea are now leading Man Utd in the race for the Dutchman, who wants to stay put

Frenkie de Jong's agents have arrived in Barcelona, as announced by Relevo and confirmed by SPORT, for a meeting with Barça to clarify the midfielder's situation and make a decision on his future in the coming days.

Barça are close to reaching an agreement with Chelsea and are going to be very clear with the Dutchman: either he reduced his salary or negotiates with the London club and leaves.

Ali Dursun, De Jong's agent, arrived at Barcelona airport on Wednesday with his colleague Hasan Cetinkay of HCM Sports Management. The duo also represents Martin Braithwaite.

The relationship between Barça and De Jong's camp is tense following a difficult summer but all parties want some clarity. Barça are tired of waiting for De Jong to decide. They count on him in a sporting sense but cannot continue to pay his salary, so he must reduce if he wants to stay.

If not, Barça will push for a transfer. They previously agreed a fee with Manchester United but now are negotiating with Chelsea, who still need to convince De Jong to make the move to England.
