"It was very brave, I don't remember a player showing such a clear love for a club"

Just four days ago, Joao Félix blew up the summer transfer window in an interview with Fabrizio Romano in which he revealed his dream of becoming a Barcelona player.

"It has been my dream since I was a child and if it happens it would be a dream come true," the Atletico Madrid forward said.

Félix's words left the Rojiblancos in a difficult position, having already sent the player on loan to Chelsea in the winter transfer window because he has failed to fit in with the tactical schemes of coach Diego Pablo Simeone.

His declaration of intent triggered all sorts of rumours to fit the arrival of the Portuguese striker into Barça's spending limit. With a purchase ruled out due to the limited financial room for maneuver at the Catalan club, the only possibility would be a player exchange.

And that is where a possible swap with Ferran Torres and Eric Garcia as a bargaining chip came into play. It is worth remembering that Joan Laporta had already tried to bring in Joao Félix last summer in an exchange with Antoine Griezmann.

Felix's agent, Jorge Mendes, is also moving the matter forward, trying to wrest a loan with an option to buy from Atletico, but the operation has been cooling down as the days have gone by and Xavi and his coaching staff have doubts, as they do not see how Felix fits in with the current needs of the squad.

This Saturday, the case has been reactivated with some statements made by his brother to the journalist Gerard Romero, during an interview related to the Kings League, a competition that attracts the attention of Hugo Félix.

The brother of Félix, who plays for Benfica's reserve team, didn't want to go any further than necessary when asked if he would like to see Joao wear Blaugrana: "You know my opinion. This is a decision for the clubs, who have to meet and come up with a final proposal."

Hugo defended his brother publicly showing his desire to play for Barça: "It was very brave. I don't remember a player showing such a clear love for a club. He has already said that he wants to go to Barça."
