Ernesto Valverde will be warmly welcomed at the Georgios Karaiskakis. An hour before Tuesday's Champions League game, a banner can already be seen inside Olympiakos' home with the message (in Spanish): "Ernesto gracias por todo" (Ernesto, thanks for everything).
The coach is returning to Athens where he previously spent three years as Olympiakos coach. He is fondly remembered by the club's supporters, who he has a special relationship with this day.
"I feel extraordinarly emotional to come back," Valverde said on Monday. "The feelings aren't of a rival. I will be on the bench without playing, I can guarantee that." The Barça coach has great memories of his time in the country: "I've always felt respect in Greece, even from rival clubs."
On Tuesday he will defend Barça's interests as he seeks the win that could confirm progress to the knockout rounds of the Champions League. In the first leg, the Blaugrana were superior, winning 3-1.
