Barcelona face the league's worst team when it comes to form ahead of the big UCL test

How good this Barcelona team is will be seen in the Champions League, the most demanding competition. They have started well on their US tour and then in La Liga, almost at 100 per cent apart from a draw with Juventus and the league opener against Rayo Vallecano.

Barcelona have thrashed Real Sociedad, Valladolid, Sevilla and Viktoria Plzen. Now they face Cadiz, and then Bayern in the Champions League.

The Andalusians have not earned a single point so far, letting in 10 goals and not scoring. They should not offer too much resistance but Xavi warned his players on Friday. Since they came up to La Liga, Barcelona have not been able to beat them - two draws and two defeats.

In fact, last season they broke a run of 14 games without defeat at Camp Nou. That game saw Barcelona effectively wave goodbye to any hope of a title challenge. Xavi has asked his players to ‘park the UCL’ and focus on this. However it’s human to think about the trip to Bavaria.

The team can’t be more hopeful, but it’s obvious that the Germans will pose a huge challenge. Two 3-0 defeats last season demonstrated that. However, Lewandowski now plays for the other team…
