Emery refuses to give up hope on Arsenal signing Umtiti this summer

The Spanish coach points out his record of using French footballers and hails the Barça man as a "very good player"

Arsenal manager Unai Emeru has spoken for the first time about the London clbu's interest in signing Samuel Umtiti from FC Barcelona. In an interview with RMC Sports, Emery pointed out Umtiti's quality as well as his own history of working with French players.

"He's a very good player. France has a lot of very good footballers who are playing abroad," stated Emery. "The French league is a very attractive market for a lot of teams. I've always had French players in my teams. At Valencia, Sevilla, PSG and here at Arsenal. I've always been able to count on those players."

In the same interview Emery admitted that he needed to strengthen his squad as well as his time at PSG. "I don't have anything against anyone at PSG. I have great memories." And lastly he mentioned Mesut Özil, who has been linked with a move away. "He works very hard, plays really well and helps us a lot. I'm happy to have him (here)."
