FC Barcelona's technical team are moving in the short term to strengthen the first team but also in the long term with the challenge of signing the talents of the future before they shoot up in price. Hunting these youngsters and bringing them in at a reasonable price is one of Deco's roles and in this respect, he is doing a great job with Fenerbahçe's Arda Güler.

This young Turkish player is being pursued by teams from half of Europe, Real Madrid among them, but Barça has moved very well and faster than the rest and has practically already closed a pre-agreement with the club and the player so that he will soon become a new Blaugrana player.

Deco's trip to Istanbul was key for Barça to be in pole position to win the deal. The new Barça director of football explained to him the project they have in mind for him and informed him that they consider him to be a "strategic" signing who also has the 'OK' from the coach, Xavi Hernandez.

It also served to lay the foundations for the agreement with Fenerbahçe. According to the journalist Shay Lugassi, the transfer will be closed for 23 million euros, to which a series of commissions that could reach 10 million euros should be added, according to this information. Arda Güler is set to sign a contract with Barça for the next five seasons and, like all the young players of the squad, would have a release clause of 1 billion euros.

Although the 18-year-old's current clause is 17.5 million, the good relationship he has with his current club and his desire that his departure could leave money behind for them, and the fact that there are so many offers for him, have led to a premium price being paid for the operation. The player wants all parties to be satisfied with the deal.

Arda Güler could stay one more year at Fenerbahçe, although there is a possibility that he could come to Barcelona as early as this summer. Both clubs want him to stay in Turkey for one more season so that he can have more consistent game time. The young talent also wants to play regularly and does not think it's bad to continue growing at his current team to make the leap to a big European football team like Barca with more experience.

Joan Laporta acknowledged in a visit to the supporters clubs of Castilla La Mancha that they are negotiating with Fenerbahçe for Arda Güler and that many teams in Europe want him. On TV3 he also said they are thinking about signing him for the 2024-25 season.
