Deco will close Xavi's Barcelona contract renewal in the coming days

The Catalan coach will sign a new deal until 2025 after winning LaLiga last year

Xavi Hernández's renewal as FC Barcelona coach is getting closer and closer. Xavi has always publicly expressed his desire to remain linked to the club of his life and everything is moving in the right direction. It is expected that the agreement will be sealed in the next few days.

Although the deal has not yet been finalised and a few details still need to be worked out, the renewal will happen. Deco has yet to take the reins of the negotiation and will do so when he returns from his holidays. Previously, this folder was in the hands of Mateu Alemany and, if they keep the agreement, Xavi will renew until 2025.

The initial idea was to extend the contract for two more seasons, until 2026, but everything seems to indicate that, finally, it will be until 2025. In this way, the same strategy will be followed as with Pep Guardiola when he was Barça coach: year by year.

No one at the club doubts that Xavi must continue to lead the project from the bench. Last season, he managed to win two titles, La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup, and has completed the rebuilding of the team in record time. The current Barça is totally different to the one he took over from Ronald Koeman. Their big challenge is to be competitive in the Champions League again and this year they cannot afford another slip-up.

Despite the fact that every negotiation has its 'timings' and that stones often appear in the way, the fluidity between the club and Xavi has been absolute. Both parties were clear that they wanted to remain united and all differences have been bridged. In this sense, the coach will receive a salary increase for him and his technical staff.
